Tess Stone welcomed us to her wonderful Permaculture Project for a day long workshop to try out some new ideas for Axewoods. As Stoney Orchard is right next door to our Log Bank, it was great to meet the neighbours and experience another exciting community project. We spent the day exploring the land, examining new ‘swales’, foraging and discussing how we can help with tree planting, coppicing and other tasks. We tried out the new green woodworking tools that have been provided by the AONB Community Project fund and the DCC Recovery Fund. Additions to lunch included Denise’s pancakes – cooked on the new trivet and cast iron skillet, corn cobs and a foraged salad.
More workshops to follow during the Autumn and Winter at other locations including Offwell Woodland and Wildlife Project.
