As part of Axewoods continuous drive to educate, we are always looking for ways to upskill and pass on our knowledge. This week was no exception, with two of our members being given the opportunity to undertake their Chainsaw Maintenance and Crosscutting course, taught by a local LANTRA trainer with over 25 years experience in the industry, which leads to their nationally recognised NPTC award.

The two-day course (plus one day exam/assessment in the new year) covers everything from PPE (which surprisingly was quite interesting), to practical skills such as assessing and safely cross-cutting timber, to the maintenance and servicing of the chainsaw.

Course participants said ‘The course was excellent with Toby, our instructor, sharing his wealth of knowledge and practical skills. It’s amazing what you don’t know that you think you know!’ We both came away from the course with a greater knowledge and understanding of cross-cutting, and some very useful skills to help us maintain and service our equipment. I would recommend this course to anyone who uses a chainsaw.
